The Hearts of Men

the-hearts-of-men-and-women-age-differently-study-finds-495012-2Scientists say that energy from the sun transfers heat to the body through electromagnetic radiation in the form of photons. This radiation causes body temperature to increase. When your body temperature changes more than .5 degrees, your body reacts by being sleepy, grumpy, or tired. Your body is always working—whether it’s hot or cold outside —to maintain a body temperature somewhere in the range of 98.6 degrees. So, the hotter it is outside, the harder your body is working to maintain its temperature inside, your body is longing to be cool and that can be exhausting and very draining. Life is Not a Destination…

life-is1Life is also not a journey this misconception has become so much a part of our cultural tradition that we forget it’s nothing more than a metaphor. Usually one offered up to offset our overemphasis on goals and targets and to get to the finish line. The idea is that we become so obsessed with where we’re headed that we don’t notice where we are in the moment. So, to have more fulfilling lives, we’re supposed to stop and smell the roses along the way. So, then what is this thing called life, well if we subscribe to the thinking of one Mr. Alan Watts a renowned British philosopher who some believe had a knack for analyzing and understanding life. Mr. Watts says life is not just about the end journey in fact he contends that our lives should be treated more as a musical composition, with lifts, drops, and improvised beauty in between, because otherwise, the best conductors in the world would be those who played the fastest to arrive at the end the soonest. Instead, it’s inherently playful and creative in and of itself. Continue reading “Life is Not a Destination…”

When Will You Be Satisfied

310782_10151611520671718_2121059651_nThis may seem like a strange question especially when everyone is not satisfied by the same thing, or are they. It has often been said that true satisfaction can only be found within, and you already possess the power to be satisfied. However, when life does not go as you planned and problems continue to mount, No one could honestly blame you for feeling frustrated. It gets extremely hard for even the best of us to stay appreciative, satisfied or even content with our circumstances. Millions of people deal with financial, emotional, and physical problems, and after being beaten down by life itself on a daily basis; it is completely understandable that to look above it all and still be satisfied, content, and appreciate who you are, and your position in life, is very difficult to do. Finding God In The Dark

It is very easy to drift into a state of cognitive dissonance when we read such intriguing passages of scripture as Exodus 20:21 “And Moses went to the thick darkness where God was…” or Psalm 18:11 “He made darkness his secret place; his pavilion round about him were dark waters”… or even when we find Solomon saying “The LORD said that he would dwell in the thick darkness”. Yet in this same Bible we are able to find scripture seemingly to the contrary, scriptures like 1 John 1:5 “This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all…”, then there is John 8:12 when Jesus Himself spoke…”saying, I am the light of the world: he that follows me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life” who can forget the Psalmist in Psalm 119:105 when he declares “Your word is a lamp to my feet, and a light to my path.” Continue reading “Finding God In The Dark”

A Time To Remember

Today I’m sharing the story of a married couple celebrating the wife’s 45th birthday. Every year along with their two children they celebrate their respective birthdays his in July, hers in September, then they would celebrate again just the two of them. They would go out to a nice restaurant have a quiet dinner alone, occasionally a few friends would be invited to join them, but most of the time it would be a nice quiet intimate date for two. However, this year the wife was determined to go all out for the entire month she made endless plans with girlfriends, Facebook friends, and even friends from the office her plans included everyone except members of her family. She said she was tired of not having fun on her birthday and this was the year she was going to start having fun for her birthday. Continue reading “A Time To Remember”
