Father’s Day


Today many in the United States will celebrate “Father’s Day” as a good way of giving and showing honor to our dads. Though honoring our fathers should be an ongoing practice, there is nothing wrong with giving dads their own special day of honor. This holiday, as practiced in America, is not rooted in paganism and fits well within the commandments of God. “Honor your father and mother” (Exodus 20:12)— which is the first commandment with a promise— “so that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth. (Ephesians 6:2-3). Considering these verses, and many others, it would seem to be perfectly God-honoring to celebrate a day in which fathers, the God-given spiritual head of the family, could and should be honored. As The World Turns
