Our World in Crisis

There is certainly no shortage of current events in our world today, when you see news that Israel is establishing itself as a nation, Russia seems to be aligning with Iran, and the Islamic extremists continue to be on the rise, then we see across a city of more than 8 million, protesters gathered and chanting, “I can’t breathe,” the last words of Eric Garner, a 43-year-old African-American man and father of six who died in July after a New York Police Department officer put him in a choke-hold. On this past Wednesday, a Staten Island grand jury decided not to indict the officer, Daniel Pantaleo in the videotaped choke-hold death of an unarmed black man stopped for selling loose, untaxed cigarettes. Let’s not forget the killing of Trayvon Martin which was cast as yet another test of race relations and equal justice in America.
